3rd in the National Farr 45 One-design Championships in Dartmouth 2007
Dartmouth Regatta doubled as the Nationals and ultimate regatta for the one-design Farr 45 fleet. After 4 days of full on racing in beautiful Dartmouth and good sailing conditions we came 3rd in the last big regatta for us in 2007. Up until the last day Fortis Excel were only points away from winning and it was very close between the top 3 yachts every day.
Fortis Excel had 2 wins.
It has really been an extraordinary season for Fortis Excel. The 3 main racing-events in our 2007 programme were defined with the crew as: "Vice-Admirals Cup", "IRM Nationals" and "Farr 45 Nationals". We have really surprised ourselves by finishing in podium position in all of them and are very proud to having been consistently the top 3 in our first apprentice year in the class. Our main contenders have been in the class for at least 2-5 seasons already. Also being the fastest owner-driver yacht in this Grand Prix class has proved very rewarding. Still the crew composition and their individual qualities plus a well prepared yacht and a shared driven vision is what has really got us there.
