Fortis Excel Racing

Fortis Excel comes split second in the National Championships

After 3 days of fighting it out with the best racers in Britain in the IRM Class (The high performance Racing Class), Fortis Excel finished in a joint second position - equal in points overall with Werewolf - and moved into 3rd overall after adjusting for wins to decide who goes to 2nd and 3rd. It was very tight and a toss up in the end. After 11 races and all kinds of weather the IRM Championships 2007 had been decided. The spirit was high if not a bit tense throughout. The team is well pleased with our performance and placement. The boat layout, rigging and general standard and tweaks achieved through the refit has worked out extremely well - and better than expected with very modifications required. The award ceremony also had us noted for the most photographed boat and many compliments on boat looks from the racing committee.

The Crystal trophy was very impressive indeed and made the crew proud.

To come 3rd (it could just as easily been first) in the Nationals is not bad going for our first season and we have build some confidence in being able to beat every single boat in the class with several wins during the Championships. I am very grateful to the team for their commitment pride and ability and also a big thanks to our sponsor for helping in "getting us there" - with my hopes that they are also proud to be the brand of the most talked about boat in the class and podium positions a good number of times so far this year.
